From Our Principal - Mr Brendan Moloney

    Dear Families,

Welcome back to for Term 4, I pray that you all enjoyed the break and made lasting memories from the fun you had as a family. It is also wonderful that our students settle back into learning so quickly, this should be celebrated!

As we approach the beginning of November the Church celebrates All Saints Day (1st Nov) and All Souls Day (2nd Nov). November is the month of Remembrance where we remember those people in our lives who have died. We continue to keep our dearly departed in our prayers, may they rest in peace.

All Saints Day is a celebration honoring all men and women who have entered Heaven. While this includes every soul in Heaven, the focus is particularly on those who led extraordinarily holy lives on earth and that the Church has canonized as saints.

All Souls’ Day, also known as the Feast of All Souls, follows All Saints’ Day. Both days mark a period for some churches, including the Catholic Church, to remember the Saints in Christian history and to pray for people.

    World Teachers Day

This Friday is World Teachers Day! The teachers/staff that we have at St Joseph’s do a brilliant job in supporting the learning and wellbeing of each student entrusted into our care. I encourage you to take the time to send a message or speak to your child’s/ren’s teacher to simply say THANK YOU for all they do!

    Warmer Weather

This week we are reminding students to be aware of snakes as the weather continues to warm. Students are encouraged to stay calm and move away if they see a snake, letting an adult know that they have spotted one and where it was.

    PUPIL Free Day

Friday 15th of Nevember will be a staff development day with all staff being off site. Should parents require Out of School Hours Care we ask that you please contact Mel to book them in for this day.

    End of Year Dates

Please be aware of dates that we have in our calendar and published in the newsletter. The last day for students for the 2024 school year will be Wednesday 18th December.

    OSHC Service

Keep an eye out for the flyer with dates and activities for our OSHC Vacation Care period. The service will be available throughout the holidays with the exception of the two week closed period over Christmas and the New Years.

    God Bless,

    Brendan Moloney

    Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

    Sunday, October 27, 2024

In this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus restores the sight of the blind man Bartimaeus. The disciples, through their shared time with Jesus, came to know that Jesus had chosen them to be in relationship with him. Our highest priority is to be instruments of the Spirit so that others may be called into relationship with Jesus. The highest service we can offer is to make Christ known, loved, and followed. Faith and reason are not in opposition. Faith makes it possible for reason to reach its fullest potentiality.

Congratulations to Pip and Saoirse who attended the Exuro retreat in Tullera on Tuesday. They had a fabulous time and we look forward to opportunities for them to share their experience with the school community.

    Exuro

I really liked Exuro because we got to meet new people from other schools and learn about Jesus.

Firstly when we got there, Saoirse and I both got name tags that were flame shaped.

We started the day with prayer, then we watched a video of a song about Jesus and God. Some year 10 Trinity students were there to help us in our groups.

After break, we all sat back down and had a bit more learning time with our groups and we had to name good things that we could do like Jesus did. Then we wrote them down on our paper body, and decorated it with coloured texters and pencils and stuck it on the wall.

Then we watched more videos on people helping others, and we had our other break and ate and played tips with the other students. To finish the day we had a Liturgy then headed home.

    Living Things Grow

Last term kindy planted beans to observe how living things grow and change.  Last week Miss Youman and kindy's picked the first crop of beans from our garden. They took them home to enjoy a healthy meal.

Who has the biggest hug in kindergarten?

As part of our mathematic unit on length, kindy were measuring their arm spans to see who has the biggest hug. Check the photo below to see who has the biggest hug.
